Project Highlight
Solo project as an end-to-end product developer.
Project Background
With wildly varying projects, milestones, and due dates, I needed a tool to organize my workload and prioritize pressing action items visually. When no existing solution fit my needs, I created Task Salad, a playful and dynamic task management system, and am now refining it for release under an open-source license.
Objective
I set out to build a system that allowed users to quickly identify their most urgent tasks at a glance, combining functionality with a playful, interactive touch.
Design Concept
In Task Salad, users drop tasks with deadlines into a customizable page (a “salad”) and track progress visually. Tasks with later deadlines appear smaller but gradually grow in size as their due dates approach, creating an interactive play on color, size, and motion. This unique visual approach transforms task management into an intuitive and engaging experience.
Gamification and User Engagement
Task Salad introduces Tasker the Raccoon, a cheerful guide who motivates users by tracking streaks—daily, weekly, and monthly. Tasker adds personality to the app while encouraging users to stay productive and consistent.
Impact
This project has been a labor of love, offering a chance to immerse myself in all aspects of product development, from design and functionality to user experience. Task Salad bridges the gap between practicality and creativity, offering users a fresh perspective on task management.
